2007 Notes about your team's website

Hey guys,

Here is the short story about what you do, to manage your team's schedule online.

  1. Register: Here. (Being on the email list doen't mean you're registered.)
  2. Get your password by email.
  3. Email me, so I can set you up to upload into a particular team's directory. (Me is .)
  4. Prepare your file on your own computer. On your computer, the file can have any name.
  5. Login (see top of home page for "log-in" link) using your email and password. When you are "logged in", your session information is on the lower-left-hand side.
  6. Go to the team's directory (e.g. from Here).
  7. Slightly higher on the lower-left-hand side, should be an option to "upload". Choose it, and a "team mom upload" page should come up.
  8. Select the type of file (text or html).
  9. Hit the "Browse" button, which allows you to navigate your local computer for the new file. Find and select your file, which should put the full local file name in this window.
  10. Hit "Upload Now", to transfer the new file to the website.
  11. On subsequent updates, start at (4).

More detailed and techy stuff follows now. You can now upload your own files into your team's website. I have tried to keep it as simple as possible. There are two options for having stuff display as a web page.

  1. Text File (called "main.txt")
  2. HTML File (called "main.html")

For option 1, you prepare a pure text file. But, DONT USE TABS! You can use spaces instead to line up columns of successive lines. You can use MS Word or MS Wordpad to type up your document. Important: If you do this, you will want to use a non-proportional font so that each letter has same width. (Sorry about the tech stuff.) A good choice for this is "Courier" or "Courier New". This makes successive lines line up. Then, when you save it, do a save as, you select file type as text. You will upload this text file (robots.txt) as "main.txt" on the website. Here is an example:

For me, the above was uploaded as "main.txt" into my team's directory, which you can see here.

For option 2, you prepare an HTML file. You can save MS Word files as HTML or MS Excel files as HTML. Then you upload the saved HTML file as "main.html".

The actual act of uploading requires the authorized team mom or coach to register (if not already registered) and then email to request access to the upload feature for the desired team. Subsequently, the team mom can log-in and will be able to "upload" into that directory (using an entry that is in the lower left column).
